Can we talk about this? Our pretty boys are great, but this is an important message in between the eye candy that a lot of people need to hear.
It’s good to look up to people and study how they do things so you can find ways to improve yourself, but the key there is that you must be improving. Complimenting the people who have a better handle on certain things than you do is nice and all, but if all you ever do is compliment, compliment, compliment, and put yourself down by comparing yourself to other people, you’re not getting anywhere (but you’ll probably make whomever you’re looking up to so much pretty uncomfortable).
Tell someone you appreciate them- their art is great/they write well/etc.- but don’t just hover right there in that little box of yours. Take a step back and go find out how you can improve, instead.
