Ever since I decided Haru is probably a rosetail betta I’ve been wanting to give his design an upgrade. I really like the old ones but I figured I could probably make them even better and more accurate so that’s what I decided to do

woohoo i’m done these three! here’s the designs for mermaids Haru, Coco and Urara for my Pirates AU (Piratama). i don’t really draw mermaids very often so this was pretty challenging!!
i wanted to keep more of a betta fish feel to their tails, cause i figured that made more sense than just a generic mermaid one, so i hope it’s at least reasonably distinguishable. i also tend to prefer giving mermaids more fishy features instead of a fully human upper body - hence the funny ears and webbed/clawed hands, and gilled ribs.
also, i think somebody is bound to wonder why Coco doesn’t have any boobs! that would be because mermaids technically aren’t mammals and i think it’s really unlikely that they’d actually need them, so i just felt like it was kind of a useless feature, haha

I finally figured out Akira’s design for my dumb Piratama AU so here it is! I like orange a lot so Akira is one heck of an orange fellow clothing wise (AND PLEASE NOTE IT’S PROBABLY ALL COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY INACCURATE LMFAO I COULD NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIND MUCH OF THE INFO I WAS LOOKING FOR)
but i gave him a khanda sword and that’s p sweet. also i made tapioca a cool as shit indian spot-billed duck because why not
i should probably figure out a design for mermaid Haru so i think i’ll probably do that next haha
