If you actually did something like in front of jesus he’d probably slap you upside the head

lotta ignorant ass brothers n sisters in christ in the notes for this thing so lemme just bible smackdown your asses real quick and let you know what a shitty believer you are for thinking this is okay (even though this is like the third time i’ve had to say this shit)

On claiming Jesus but refusing to help people:

  • James 2: (14) What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? (15) If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, (16) and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? (17) Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
  • 1 Timothy 5: (8) But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
  • Matthew 25: (35) For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in…’ (37) “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?…’ (40) “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

On promising a gift that turns out to be fake:

  • Psalm 101: (7) No one who practices deceit shall dwell in my house; no one who utters lies shall continue before my eyes.
  • 1 Thessalonians 2: (3) For our appeal does not spring from error or impurity or any attempt to deceive…
  • Proverbs 19: (9) A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will perish.

And finally, on Jesus Christ laying a holy table-flipping bitchslap on people who use religion to be cheap asshats:

  • John 2: (14) In the Temple grounds he found those who were selling cattle, sheep and pigeons, and others who were sitting at tables exchanging money. (15) He made a whip from cords and drove them all out of the Temple grounds, the sheep and cattle as well. He knocked over the money-changers’ tables, scattering their coins; (16) and to the pigeon-sellers he said, “Get these things out of here! How dare you turn my Father’s house into a market?”

this is supposed to be the part where i close with something witty and inspiring but i really cannot even be assed

John 2:14-16 is my favorite thing in the Bible.
