Rat’s Painting Sells for $850,000 at Auction
The latest abstract work by legendary painter Winston the rat has been sold at a Sotheby’s auction for a whopping $850,000. The painting, titled “Squeak,” is a clear extension of his Blue Period.
“The way the strokes cris-cross on the canvas — it’s as if he’s crying out for something real in a world full of pretense,” says art critic Simon Jennings. “Ah, who am I kidding, it’s just rat prints.”
