The Walrus: Summer Reading 2013
I had an absolute blast working on the cover for The Walrus Summer Reading issue this year. The concept was to feature two ways to enjoy a lazy summer read—good old books vs. digitally published periodicals! I was keen to illustrate the lush green beauty of summer, something I remember fondly from childhood summers and my parents’ enchanted-forest-like backyard. But my favorite bit of this image is the tuna sandwich!
I painted this image with a lot of extra room on the top and bottom, for the Iphone 5 version of the digital magazine! I recommend you pick the issue up in whatever form you prefer, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon. Many thanks to AD Brian Morgan :-)
