While we love regular visits to the Department of Unexpected Interspecies Friendship, something we seldom get to do is revisit interspecies friends we’ve already met to see how they’re getting along. That’s what makes this video an extra-special treat.

Last month we shared a video of a sweet cat named Clara in in County Offaly, Ireland who had not only just given birth to a litter of kittens, but had adopted three orphaned ducklings to boot. In this new video we check back in on Clara and her mixed brood.

Everyone is still awesomely cute, cuddly, and thriving. However the ducklings are growing faster than the kittens and Clara is not pleased that they’re already entertaining ideas of leaving the safety of her nest. She won’t have it and, as you’ll see, makes sure to retrieve the bold little duckling who’s ready to go off on untold adventures. Clara wants to keep them all close by. Eventually the ducklings relent and everyone ends up in a sleepy heap. If you’re not smiling by the end of the video, it might be time to check your pulse.
