“My Style” ATLA #2, Sokka
Next is Sokka, who is definitely one of my favorite characters. Almost immediately in the first episode, I liked him. Something that’s great about ATLA is how much the characters feel like real people. That definitely applies to Sokka. He very quickly came off to me as extremely insecure, which was only backed up when you find out that he’s the only man in the southern water tribe who got left behind. I think a lot of Sokka’s sarcasm and intentional digs at women are his attempt to act like he’s still cool and manly despite not being taken along. He definitely grows as a character over the course of the series, with his experiences with Suki being a big contribution to him turning into more of an adult. But, without losing his sense of humor or smart mouth.
He’s also the only non-bender in Team Avatar, which lends itself to some interesting, subtextual social themes that apparently play out later in Legend of Korra (which I haven’t seen yet).
“My Style” ATLA #1: Katara
I watched Avatar: The Last Airbender over the summer and I really enjoyed it, and fanart is long overdue. But I decided to draw the characters in my “style” instead of trying to mimic the show’s designs. So here’s the first one, Katara!
Katara is probably my least favorite in Team Avatar, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like her. She’s a great example of a really well-written strong female - headstrong, proactive and unapologetic, but not lacking in personality or femininity on the way there. She might not be the most “fun” character in ATLA, but as far as badasses go you don’t have to look any further!

Because I am having so many Zuko feels since his older version was released. I can’t even. I just. Just can’t *_*
So I had to draw some Iroh-Zuko, since it’s one of my all time favourite relationships ever. And I know, Iroh is so so so proud<3
And I kind of have this headcanon in which Zuko and Iroh haven’t seen each other in a while, considering Zuko is busy with his Fire Lord duties, and Iroh is far away in the Earth Kingdom..I bet Zuko came for some calming jasmine tea.<3
